Nosa Igbinedion’s OYA RISE OF THE ORISA heading for the big screen

There was a lot of excitement last year about Nosa’s short film, which premiered at the Matatu Film Festival in Oakland California in August 2014. It went on to screen at various film festivals around the World, from Brazil to Nigeria, and across Europe.

The trailer has being watched over 160,000 times on YouTube. The film, which re-imagines deities known as Orisas from Yoruba cultural and religious heritage as modern day super heroes has gathered quite a remarkable interest from across the world and earned the young and visionary director a Rising Star nomination in the 2015 Screen Nation awards billed to be held on February 15th in London.

More exciting is the news that there is more where this came from. Igodo films can confirm that the short film has been adapted into a feature script which is finally complete. Also there is a comic book adaptation in the works due to be published soon. We are excited and looking forward to working with a host of talents from across Brazil, Nigeria, the UK and USA.

The film, still to be directed by Nosa Igbinedion is an action packed thriller set in modern day Brazil features a band of super heroes led by the storm goddess Oya, on a mission to save the earth from dark forces bent on its ruin. Principal photography will begin before the end of the year.
